Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has established three new companies.

To enhance competitiveness of its industrial machinery business, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has established three new companies and consolidated four product groups into other operational departments of MHI.

Effective April 1st, 2005, MHI has established three wholly-owned subsidiaries - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Food & Packaging Machinery Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Plastic Technology Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Industrial Machinery Co., Ltd., which respectively handle food packaging machinery, injection molding machinery and commercial-use laundry machinery businesses.

With the establishment of these companies, by integrating development and manufacturing functions of MHI and sales and service functions of its affiliated companies, MHI aims to accelerate decision making process and enhance capability to respond to markets and customers in order to win out over the competition with companies specialized in these products.

Four product groups have been consolidated into other departments to produce maximized synergy effect as follows:

Industrial Robots > Machinery Development Headquarters
Power Transmission > Machine Tools Development
Gasoline Engines > General machinery & Special Vehicle Headquarters
